Register

We are happy to register new patients. You must live within the practice area. To check if your address is within our practice area, go to the Practice Area tab, click where indicated and a map will appear — enter your postcode and click on "check if your postcode is in catchment area" and a message will show to say if you are in the area or not. At the time of registation we ask you, and any other family members who may also be registering, to provide details of your past medical problems and to book a new patient health check with our health care support worker or one of our practice nurses. If you are on repeat medication you will need to see a doctor before we can issue your prescription. New patients will be asked to provide identification upon registering, along with evidence of their address. Reception staff will be able to advise you which documents can be accepted as identification.

Remember that records from your previous practice can take up to three months to arrive with us.

If you move outside of the practice area we are not able to continue to provide you with medical care and you will need to re-register with a practice local to your new address.

Visitors and temporary residents

If you are in the area for a short time and require medical treatment you are allowed to register with this practice as a temporary resident. This gives you the same access to general medical services as registered patients but either for a period of 24 hours up to 15 days, or between 15 days and three months.

If you are going to be in the area for longer than three months you should register fully with a GP.

If you are registered with another practice locally it is essential that you attend your own practice where your medical notes are available.

Overseas Visitors

People from abroad are eligible for free treatment on the NHS in the case of an emergency. Broadly, this means that if, in the opinion of the GP, your condition requires emergency treatment you will not be charged for a consultation with a GP.

If you require treatment or medication for a pre-existing condition and you are not a citizen of the European Union you will be charged a fee, which then should be claimed back via your insurance company.
