The CSA is an 'assessment of a doctor's ability to ...and apply clinical, professional, communication and practicalskills appropriate for general practice.' (RCGP)
It is stressful, expensive and a lot of hard work - but we'll help you. You need to be in a position that your experience in your ST2 GP placement allows you to start seeing patients at ten minute intervals as soon as possible. Involvement in all aspects of patient care, such as home visits, the nursing home, post tray, being on duty, as well as your out-of- hours sessions provides the experience that you need. We will encourage you to video consultations, you can sit in with any of the partners and vice versa. In this way we can identify areas that you need to work on.
Within the practice you can set up your own CSA session with other Registrars, and you can do similarly outside of the Practice. Most Registrars have found that attending the Croydon course has been helpful.
We have provided a number of downloads to help you, and at the Surgery we have DVDs of consultations for you to watch.
