Our of hours

We suggest that you book your out of hours sessions with Basford as early as possible because of the large demand. You need to contact .......

For more information on Out of Hours requirements read the COGPED guidelines which you can download on the right. This is a lengthy document so we suggest you read pp.9-13, try the self assessment tool on p.26 and the short answer questionnaire on p.39. A log workbook is provided on pp54-56.

It's also worth reading the RCGP curriculum statement on OOH.

Dr Scott at Basford provides very good induction and training for you and will explain how to add the necessary evidence of your sessions to your e-portfolio.

And finally for thought and discussion, we don't provide telephone triage at Madeley, but the OOH service does. Have a look at BMJ article on Telephone Consultations. What are the pros and cons? Discuss!

We will of course alter your surgery times to allow you to attend the OOH sessions. If you have an early evening session you may need to finish early, if you have a late evening session you may in line withe working hours directive wish to start work alter the next morning. You will still be expected to work the same length of surgeries, we will simply alter their timing.
