Make An Appointment

Appointments may be booked up to a maximum of four weeks in advance to see a doctor or nurse by telephoning 01782 750274 or calling Madeley Practice between 8.30am — 6.00pm Monday to Friday.

Although we answer several lines on our main telephone system they are very busy first thing in the morning. If you can leave non-urgent calls until later in the morning we will be able to deal with them more quickly. We advise ringing for results in the afternoon.

Mondays are our busiest days. If your requirement is routine and non-urgent try telephoning on another day. We will be able to respond to your needs more quickly.

Appointment length

An appointment with a doctor or nurse is normally for 10 minutes. If you require a longer time please ask the receptionist to help you.

How to book an appointment

Every doctor has a certain number of appointments allocated each day that are available for booking in advance. If you would like to pre-book an appointment we would advise you to allow plenty of time (especially if you want to see a particular doctor).

We will always try to book you an appointment with your preferred doctor, but this may not be possible on the day, in which case we will offer you an appointment with another doctor.

Booking appointments online

You can now use the internet to view, book and cancel GP appointments,  and submit your repeat medication request.

It is especially useful when the practice is closed, telephone lines are busy or you are simply unable to visit the practice.

For more information or to register for online booking please ask at reception.  You will need to provide two forms of identification (one photo ID and one with your current address) for us to be able to issue you with your login details. Once registered simply click on ‘Book an Appointment’ on the home page and this will take you to the booking website.

Telephone advice

If you have a problem that could be dealt with over the phone (rather than through an appointment) please tell the receptionist, who will take your details and ask the doctor to phone you back (usually the same day).

Practice nurse appointments

Practice nurse appointments should always be booked in advance because these clinics get very busy (you may usually book up to four weeks ahead). These appointments may not be booked online at present.

Medicals & postnatal examinations

Medicals and postnatal examinations should be booked in advance. Please tell the receptionist if you need to book either of these, because we follow separate guidelines for these types of appointments.

Urgent appointments

Urgent appointments can be made for the same day but may not be with the doctor of your choice.

Home visits

Home visits are for patients who are too ill or infirm to come to the Surgery. If you need the doctor to visit you at home please telephone the Surgery on 01782 750274 before 10.30am and give the receptionist as much information as you can to help the doctor assess the urgency required.

Unsure?

If you are unsure about any of the above information please ask a receptionist for clarification.
